12 January 1953 Hastings C1 TG602 crashed after take off from Fayid [near to Shallufah] when both elevator and the tailplane broke away all 5 crew and 4 passengers died
The earlier post was an excerpt from my late father F/Lt Herbert 'Bert' Mills' memoirs.
I still have that coin, somewhere. Scary!
I'm attaching some old photographs, a couple hand-coloured by my dad, that would have been taken around that time.
At least one them shows the ill-fated TG602, in which he flew many times.
The shot in Abingdon was taken from the caravan site where I lived as a small boy at the time.
If anybody can identify the men in 'civvies' alongside my dad, in uniform, posing along the Suez Canal, I would be delighted. I suspect that the second man from the left may be F/L Ray Foreman?
Any other memories of him at that time would be appreciated. A private message woiuld do.
