This really was a very close shave involving Field Marshal Sir Gerald Templer and other VIP's aboard Hastings WD500 on 4th July 1956 The passenger door on a C4 is/was totally different to all other Hastings, it was hydraulically operated with steps in situ [I have some photos to find yet from WJ326...
