TE583

Second prototype which first flew on 30th December 1946, this Hastings was fitted with two outer Sapphire jet turbine engines for the new HP Victor engine testbed and must have been a sight to see! She was also used in early trials of glider towing especially the Hamilcar

TE583 fitted with two Sapphire jet turbine engines [Numbers 1 & 4] outer nacelles, this aircraft was the second prototype and was evaluated for trials for the new HP Victor V-Bomber, its life thereafter was for various research institutes especially the RRE
